About The Position

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification of Transportation Engineer 1 (TE1) or Transportation Engineer 2 (TE2). This role involves completing ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program, which includes a 12-month training plan and scheduled rotations through the department’s core engineering disciplines: Planning & Engineering, Construction, and Highway Maintenance. The position offers a thorough introduction to these disciplines, working alongside ODOT professional engineers, and gaining hands-on transportation training and experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors (for TE1)
  • Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors (for TE2)
  • 12 months of experience as Transportation Engineer 1 (for TE2)
  • 2 years of engineering-related experience (alternative for TE2)
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment may be substituted for experience, but not for mandated registration.
