The ODOT District 12 Capital Programs Department, which includes the Planning, Design, and Construction sections, has a position vacancy that requires the expertise of a professional engineer. Requirements

  • Licensed as a registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • 12 months of experience as a group or project leader providing work direction and training to engineering technicians and/or lower-level engineers.
  • OR 12 months of experience in conducting engineering-related research (this applies only to staff specialist positions).
  • OR 12 months of experience as a Transportation Engineer 2, 85642.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and contract documents.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to and inspect project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer multiple construction projects of varying complexity.
  • Work closely with Design and Maintenance Departments to address issues and future project considerations.
  • Perform constructability plan reviews.
  • Process change orders and estimates.
  • Utilize multiple computer software programs such as GoForms, Mobile Inspector, AASHTOWare Project (AWP), etc. to manage construction projects.
  • Manage in-house and consultant inspection staff.
  • Act as a mentor for upcoming project engineers and interns.
