About The Position

This position is part of ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program, which includes a 12-month training plan and scheduled rotations through the department’s core engineering disciplines: Planning & Engineering, Construction, and Highway Maintenance. The role provides a thorough introduction to these disciplines, working alongside ODOT professional engineers to gain hands-on transportation training and experience essential for a career as an engineer with ODOT. The position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards. All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period. The final candidate selected will be required to undergo a criminal background check and an individual assessment of prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
  • Civil Engineering job skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program.
