About The Position

The State of Ohio is seeking a Transportation Engineer 1 for the Office of Equipment Management. This role involves the design, manufacturing, testing, and implementation of ODOT’s snow and ice removal equipment. The engineer will create technical specifications and drawings for components of ODOT’s snow plow trucks, including chassis, hydraulic systems, plows, and bodies. Additionally, the position requires working with ODOT’s counties and districts to evaluate and train on load and weight distribution of their equipment. This role offers hands-on transportation training and experience to further a career as an engineer with ODOT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis).

Responsibilities

  • Design, manufacturing, testing and implementation of ODOT’s snow and ice removal equipment.
  • Create technical specifications and drawings for all components of ODOT’s snow plow trucks i.e. chassis, hydraulic systems, plows, bodies.
  • Work with ODOT’s counties and districts evaluating and training on load and weight distribution of their equipment.
  • Work alongside of ODOT professional engineers.
  • Receive hands-on transportation training & experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT.
