The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer 1 (Engineering) for the Traffic Signals, Electrical Section in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Division of Traffic Engineering in Newington, CT. This role involves designing and reviewing electrical elements for traffic control signals and other electrical needs on State roadways. The position requires preparing plans using CAD software, specifications, and estimates for electrical elements related to transportation projects. Coordination with utilities on Traffic Engineering signal projects and ensuring compliance with NESC, NEC, and PURA codes/regulations is essential. The engineer will also review and approve product data submittals, conduct field inspections, and prepare power letters to determine electricity costs for State-owned signal equipment. Additionally, the role involves providing technical assistance in researching and developing specifications for new technology. Applicants must be available to travel for training, conferences, meetings, and field reviews, potentially outside of normal working hours, and must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
