About The Position

Tatham Engineering is seeking a recent engineering graduate or early-career professional for an Engineering Candidate position in their Transportation department, based in Barrie. The successful candidate will contribute to various transportation planning and traffic engineering projects, including traffic impact studies, development reviews, parking studies, transportation master plans, functional design, traffic operations analysis, safety reviews, signal timing, and Municipal Class Environmental Assessments.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Meet the requirements of PEO as a candidate for becoming a professional engineer in the Province of Ontario and be committed to following the PEO Competency Based Assessment program.
  • 0 - 4 years of relevant experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret data, complete calculations, and clearly communicate technical findings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with transportation analysis and modelling software would be considered an asset.
  • Previous consulting, co-op, internship, or municipal transportation experience would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and field investigations.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Develop traffic projections and undertake traffic operations reviews and capacity analyses using appropriate modelling software.
  • Assist with traffic impact studies, parking studies, transportation master plans, functional designs, road safety reviews, and other transportation planning assignments.
  • Prepare design briefs, memoranda, reports, figures, presentations, and other project deliverables.
  • Assist with proposals, work plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal staff, other Tatham departments, subconsultants, clients, agencies, and external project partners.
  • Support project managers in delivering assignments in accordance with established scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
