About The Position

A transportation dispatcher plays a vital role in managing the logistics and coordination of transportation operations. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of transportation services, making it a critical part of the logistics and supply chain industry.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with local roads and transportation networks.
Ability to use dispatch software, GPS, and other tracking tools.
Lifting Capacity – ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Mobility – Prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.
Exposure – Moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment.
Noise Tolerance – Noise levels may be high at times.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a dispatch or logistics role, preferred.

Responsibilities

Assign vehicles and drivers to pick up and deliver goods or passengers based on customer requests and needs.
Plan and adjust routes, assign drivers, to ensure timely and efficient deliveries, considering traffic, weather, and other conditions.
Maintain constant communication with drivers, customers, and other departments to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
Track the location and status of vehicles and shipments using computer systems and GPS.
Maintain logs of activities, delivery times, truck fleet assets and inspections and any issues that arise.
Prepare and submit reports on performance and activities.
Address customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring a high level of service.
Ensure all operations comply with company policies and relevant repairs, inspections, and regulations.
Work with local team to improve logistics processes to reduce freight costs.
