About The Position

A transportation dispatcher plays a vital role in managing the logistics and coordination of transportation operations. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of transportation services, making it a critical part of the logistics and supply chain industry.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with local roads and transportation networks.
Ability to use dispatch software, GPS, and other tracking tools.
Lifting Capacity – ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Mobility – Prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.
Exposure – Moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment.
Noise Tolerance – Noise levels may be high at times
Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a dispatch or logistics role, preferred.

Responsibilities

Scheduling and Dispatching: Assign vehicles and drivers to pick up and deliver goods or passengers based on customer requests and needs.
Route Planning: Plan and adjust routes, assign drivers, to ensure timely and efficient deliveries, considering traffic, weather, and other conditions.
Communication: Maintain constant communication with drivers, customers, and other departments to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
Monitoring: Track the location and status of vehicles and shipments using computer systems and GPS.
Record Keeping: Maintain logs of activities, delivery times, truck fleet assets and inspections and any issues that arise. Prepare and submit reports on performance and activities.
Customer Service: Address customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring a high level of service.
Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with company policies and relevant repairs, inspections, and regulations.
Continuous Improvement: Work with local team to improve logistics processes to reduce freight costs.
