About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region. The successful candidate will supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of clients, primarily PennDOT, PA Turnpike, and other local agencies, ensuring structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. JMT is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,800 professionals providing engineering, architecture, IT, and related services nationwide. Requirements

  • Qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor.
  • Experience with highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to supervise standard inspection procedures.
  • Knowledge of structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.
  • Ability to review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise project inspection activities.
  • Ability to oversee, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff.
  • Ability to measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation.
  • Ability to make field notes and computations.
  • Ability to draft project correspondence and facilitate project meetings.
  • Ability to resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Ability to witness routine sampling and tests on materials.
  • Proficiency in gathering and maintaining project records using PennDOT ECMS and other systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Oversee, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Make field notes and computations.
  • Draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues on behalf of the client.
  • Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Gather and maintain project records using PennDOT ECMS and other systems.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
