Requirements

• One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
• An equivalent combination of experience and training
• Must meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards
• Possession of a valid non- commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
• Must meet the PA residency requirement
• Must be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of bridge structures and evaluate conditions of components such as beams, decks, bearings, and supports
• Guide and support inspection staff, assign tasks, and review completed work for accuracy
• Maintain inspection documents, forms, photographs, and system data to ensure accurate reporting
• Work with internal and external partners to safely access bridges and follow safety procedures
• Manage inspection equipment, ensure proper maintenance, and identify needs for replacements or upgrades
