About The Position

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a motivated Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor to take on the role of Bridge Inspection Team Leader. This position leads a bridge inspection team that evaluates bridge structures to ensure they meet important safety standards. Your work will focus on inspecting bridge components, documenting findings, and coordinating field operations. As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader, you will perform duties such as directing inspection staff, overseeing daily inspection activities, examining bridge structures, components, and safety features for damage or deterioration, maintaining accurate inspection reports, forms, photos, and field sketches, arranging equipment, permits, and access needs with maintenance units and railroads, promoting safe work practices and monitoring conditions at inspection sites, and providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations for assigned staff.

Requirements

  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Must meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards
  • Possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement

Responsibilities
