About The Position

This position is responsible for performing construction office administration duties such as inputting data, procurement of material and services, budgeting, construction project cost accounting and related clerical services. The role involves monitoring project timelines and ensuring compliance with established standards. The technician will maintain required documents and ensure accuracy on contract items including certified payrolls, supplemental agreements, and contract pay estimates, as well as maintain construction records.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration (business math, accounting principles, English/grammar).
  • Knowledge of agency rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction inspection methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs and systems related to office work and highway construction.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication.
  • Skill in analysis and preparation of data.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Skill in operation of equipment for completion of assigned duties.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, analyze, establish priorities, and perform tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate a State-owned vehicle.

  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license.

  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction office administration duties.
  • Input data.
  • Procure material and services.
  • Handle budgeting and construction project cost accounting.
  • Provide related clerical services.

  • Maintain required documents and ensure accuracy on contract items (certified payrolls, supplemental agreements, contract pay estimates).
  • Maintain construction records.
  • Review for accuracy and/or prepare contract documents related to financial documents for construction projects.
  • Prepare and generate construction project documentation for project administration to ensure conformance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Prepare and complete various project reports.
  • Use systems to create daily diaries and pay quantities.
  • Use programs to monitor project budgets, progress payments, and generate monthly estimates.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Maintain project files.
  • Assist with checking force accounts.
  • Monitor and check contractor certified payrolls.
  • Prepare and complete project close-outs.
  • Create appropriate documents for procurement actions (goods and services).
  • Conduct procurement and accounts payable research of automated procurement systems.
  • Initiate purchases, receive and verify purchases, and complete all documents in compliance with State and agency codes and policies.
  • Interact with contractors, consultants, local agencies, and citizens to enhance and maintain communication.
  • Attend various meetings.
  • Drive State-issued vehicles in the course and scope of State business.
