About The Position
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is hiring a Transportation Auto Truck Technician Assistant for its Engineering Support Branch in Shelby County. The position assists technicians with the repair and maintenance of automotive, medium, and heavy equipment and provides the opportunity to learn to use related tools and equipment. The assistant also supports daily operations in the equipment facility and operates shop equipment, mechanical tools, and Non-CDL equipment. Work is typically performed in a garage-type facility or field setting.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid driver's license before employment and maintain required licenses, certifications, or credentials for the duration of employment.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a garage-type setting or facility.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects or work in uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily operations in the equipment facility.
- Assist technicians with the maintenance and repair of automotive, medium, and heavy equipment.
- Operate shop equipment and mechanical tools, including sockets, wrenches, ratchets, torches, and presses.
- Operate Non-CDL equipment.
