About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Transportation Department. The position may handle special projects or take over for the Manager in the event of an absence.

Requirements

Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Good phone etiquette and public relations skills.
Detail-oriented and well organized.
Knowledge of word processing software.
Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of DMV rules and regulations.
DOT experience.
Supervisory or managerial experience within a distribution or logistics environment.
Expertise in shipping, receiving, and inventory in addition to transportation.
Experience within a food distribution environment.
Knowledge or understanding of DOT regulations and requirements.

Responsibilities

Oversee the department’s daily operation to ensure on-time delivery to stores.
Promote and ensure that all team members practice safety in the workplace and on the road.
Manage driver schedules and requests for days off.
Provide accurate and timely information regarding driver timecards.
Work with stores and drivers to reduce dwell time and improve overall performance.
Handle union issues that arise.
Handle special projects or cover for the Manager during an absence.
Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
