About The Position

The Oregon Department of Transportation Policy, Data & Analysis Division Transportation Planning Analysis Unit in Salem is seeking two transportation analysts. These positions will conduct analysis, work with transportation models, and support the development and reporting of performance measures. The role requires strong data skillset to support a suite of technical tools, procedures, and models, offering critical engineering experience and a collaborative team environment. The Transportation Planning Analysis Unit (TPAU) provides essential analysis and technical support for policy, planning, project development, and system operation activities, and has developed nationally recognized tools and models. The department aims to provide a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon's communities and economy thrive. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering appropriate to the duties and responsibilities of the position AND one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles, and methods; OR Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam AND one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles, and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and application of transportation models including the statewide integrated model (SWIM), VisionEval and travel demand models.
  • Perform transportation facility and system analysis (e.g., safety, multimodal, traffic, environmental).
  • Use Geographic Information System (GIS), database tools, and scripts to develop, report, and display data.
  • Support the development and reporting of transportation system performance measures.
  • Support development and maintenance of technical procedures, guidance, tools, and platforms—including ODOT’s Analysis Procedures Manual (APM).
  • Prepare and present technical deliverables including reports, memos, procedures and guidelines.
  • Review and comment on technical deliverables and scopes of work prepared by others.
