About The Position

The Transmission Service Technician I diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds heavy-duty transmissions. The role monitors and adjusts processes or equipment to support quality and efficiency, performs preventative maintenance, and assists other technicians with repairs and maintenance. The technician communicates with customers, coworkers, and management, follows company policies and procedures, attends required training, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience as a transmission mechanic.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform complex repairs correctly and safely in shop and field environments.
• Ability to complete service jobs in a timely manner.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of oil field and engine equipment.
• Ability to meet the physical demands described, including moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, working in confined spaces, and using hands to handle or feel tools and controls.
• Ability to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions, complete tasks despite frequent interruptions, use discretion and independent judgment, and speak clearly by phone and with coworkers.
• Ability to wear common protective or safety equipment when needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, evaluate, and adjust processes or equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair various brands of transmissions.
• Perform basic mechanical work, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on transmissions.
• Assist other technicians with repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Attend training classes as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
