About The Position

HDR Engineering is seeking multiple Transmission Line Engineering Managers to join its growing, nationally ranked Power Delivery team. The role leads, guides, and advises clients, projects, and teams on high-voltage transmission line projects, drawing on broad technical knowledge and experience in transmission line design and construction. The manager oversees technical engineering and design work, develops and implements project execution plans, and may lead several projects concurrently with teams in different locations. The role also supports project management, quality assurance, mentoring, professional development, and the communication of HDR’s technical capabilities. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
At least 10 years of experience.
Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position’s location, such as a PE or P.Eng license.
Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software; examples include PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit.
Commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

Construction and/or field experience in transmission.
Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, and technical managers, and project staff.
Experience working with renewables developers and/or renewables interconnection.
Transmission line design experience using PLS-CADD, steel and wood transmission structure analysis/design, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support.

Responsibilities

Manage and execute engineering and design components of transmission projects using technical experience and expertise.
Develop and implement project execution plans for the technical aspects of transmission projects.
Work independently and/or direct, mentor, train, and supervise Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians, and administrative staff.
Perform project management duties as needed, supporting technical scope, schedule, and budget; proposal development; work breakdown structures; progress and risk assessments; mitigation; change management; and schedule management.
Coordinate and/or lead project QA/QC in accordance with HDR’s Quality Management Systems requirements.
Perform quality checks or reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
Participate in project reviews as needed.
Lead multiple concurrent projects at times, using teams in different locations.
Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop technical expertise, and attend training and seminars on complex transmission-industry concepts.
At times, assist with technical papers or presentations showcasing HDR’s technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
