About The Position

The Transition Guide (TG) serves as Gannon University’s first point of contact with our first-year students. As a representative of Gannon University, Transition Guides will be expected to enhance the student experience by promoting learning and development through engagement, fostering community among small groups, and encouraging a culture of dialogue and understanding. The role emphasizes career readiness learning objectives in leadership, communication, professionalism, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Must have attended Gannon University for at least 1 semester prior to July 2026.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student for the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Must be able to be self-sufficient in assigned tasks, as well as collaborate effectively in a new community of professional and peer staff.
  • Must be able to uphold and support the Gannon University Mission.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a small-group facilitator for 10-16 students during all Orientation sessions.
  • Serve as a peer mentor during the transition process by supporting students holistically, communicating information, and connecting them to university resources.
  • Model a positive attitude and growth mindset when portraying Gannon University’s programs, policies & procedures.
  • Assist with setup and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Be fully present for setup days (the day prior to each Orientation session).
  • Be present, engaged, and committed to the training process, including the Summer Transition Guide kick-off meeting, Summer Transition Guide Training (July 6-9, 2026), and Summer Orientation Sessions (July 10, 16, 18, 20).
