About The Position

We focus on helping students learn to be responsible, on task, achieve their goals, and show respect to others. As a Behavior Facilitator, you will help reinforce these expectations every day through the observation of students and implementation of behavior intervention plans. This role is for a 0.96875 FTE position at the Community Campus.

Requirements

  • Two years successful post high school education.
  • Two years’ experience with students with disabilities with at least one year of experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with disabilities who have significant skill deficits in communication, adult daily living, and vocational skills.
  • Requires hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination, keyboarding, and telephoning.
  • Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, fingers.
  • Able to demonstrate skills and strategies to support students who need high levels of support with communication, adult daily living, and vocational skills.
  • Experience with behavior management strategies to utilize when student’s struggle in the classroom and in the community.
  • Able to accurately collect data when supporting students in the classroom and in the community.
  • Able to maintain confidential information about students.
  • Able to work effectively in stressful situations that may occur within the classroom, building, on transportation, and in the community.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Valid driver’s license and current insurance in order to use personal vehicle for transporting students to vocational and daily living activities within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Observe students and implement behavior intervention plans to reinforce expectations.
  • Assist students with acquiring and retaining communication, daily living, and vocational skills in the classroom and community through instructional and behavioral programming directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Support the behavior management of students by implementing supportive strategies and individualized behavior plans in the classroom and in the community.
  • Participate in the implementation and revision of student behavior plans under the direction of the Behavior Specialist or teacher/case manager.
  • Implement and provide de-escalation strategies and, as needed, physical support to students who demonstrate self-injurious or other problem behaviors.
  • Support students with completing vocational tasks in the classroom and community by creating checklists, visual supports, and behavior supports.
  • Support and troubleshoot assistive technology (e.g., communication device) needs for students to utilize in the classroom and in the community.
  • Provide physical assistance to students with personal hygiene needs as needed.
  • Complete data collection using various systems (i.e., paper/pencil, technology) to document student progress and special education service planning.
  • Participate in professional development as required and when requested by the District.
  • Work collaboratively with building staff to create and sustain positive learning environments for all students.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with other team members, building staff, and individuals within the community.
  • Maintain professional standards as a representative of the school district.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and supervise student activities, when needed.
