About The Position

This position involves implementing, monitoring, and revising student behavior programs, providing individualized support, and teaching essential social skills. The role also includes modeling behavior management strategies, conducting observations, assisting with academic interventions, and implementing supportive strategies in alternative learning settings. Supervision of students during transportation and activities is also a key responsibility, along with fostering positive relationships and documenting student progress.

Requirements

  • Two years successful post high school education.
  • At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills, knowledge of programming for students with behavior disorders.
  • Requires hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination, keyboarding and telephoning.
  • Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, fingers.
  • Frequent physical management of students.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Experience with behavior management.
  • Ability to use a computer for word processing and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Regular contact with students with emotional, cognitive and/or conduct-related disorders.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation, monitoring, and revision of student behavior programs under the guidance of the Behavior Specialist, case manager, or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Provide individualized support to students during the referral process, facilitating problem-solving activities, completing the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP), and teaching essential social skills to promote successful reintegration into the classroom.
  • Model effective behavior management strategies and support staff in learning and applying these approaches.
  • Facilitate student progress toward social, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive goals using positive reinforcement, redirection, and other evidence-based strategies.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with classrooms to support teachers, educational assistants, and students, ensuring a productive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Conduct observations and gather classroom teacher documentation to support referral and reintegration procedures.
  • Assist in classroom academic interventions by providing one-on-one support to ensure all students receive the targeted attention needed for their success.
  • Implement supportive strategies and individualized support plans in alternative learning settings to help students manage and regulate behavior.
  • Supervise students during bus transportation and activities as needed, employing effective behavior management and de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment.
  • Foster strong, positive relationships with staff and students to contribute to a supportive and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Document student progress on behavior and achievement goals, providing teachers and parents with progress reports as directed by the case manager.
  • Organize and manage paperwork and other documentation as directed by teachers or case managers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of office referrals, ensuring readiness for parent communication and follow-up.
  • Collaborate in the planning and execution of school events to enhance the educational experience for the school community.
  • Work collaboratively with building staff to create and sustain positive learning environments for all students.
  • Help establish and maintain home-school communication about student behavior under the direction of the Behavior Specialist or case manager.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities as required or requested by the District to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
