About The Position

The City of Winchester is hiring a part-time Transit Dispatcher to work Saturdays from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm, with occasional weekday shifts as needed. The dispatcher provides customer service to external and internal customers, vendors, and partner agencies; monitors two-way radio traffic; and coordinates daily transit routes, drivers, and vehicles to support efficient service. The role also monitors service efficiency in real time, may participate in or lead training on dispatching procedures, and uses software programs, mapping tools, and dispatch platforms to support accurate and efficient service.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
• At least three years of experience in customer service and administrative functions.
• Possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers, vendors, and partner agencies.
• Monitor two-way radio traffic and respond to operator inquiries regarding traffic, detours, road conditions, and passenger issues.
• Perform scheduling and routing functions, coordinate daily routes, assign drivers and vehicles, and maximize service efficiency.
• Monitor service efficiency in real time.
• Participate in or lead training for dispatching procedures when necessary.
• Use multiple software programs, mapping tools, and dispatch platforms to ensure accurate and efficient service.
