About The Position

Lackawanna College is seeking a Transfer Credit Evaluator, CPL (Credit for Prior Learning) to join their team. Reporting to the Associate Registrar, this role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of transfer credit evaluations for online and graduate students. The position involves regular interaction with various college constituents and external stakeholders. While some aspects may be performed remotely, regular in-person attendance and occasional travel are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related field.
  • Experience with CRM required (Salesforce a plus).
  • Knowledge of Jenzabar or comparable platforms.
  • Ability to learn and use technologically current applications.
  • Proficient computer/technical skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on the needs of the College.
  • Ability to frequently reach, stand, walk, bend, twist, grasp, sit, talk, hear, see, climb and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 20 pounds, and push/pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with transfer credit evaluation software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the transcript reporting process with National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) for accurate and secure automated delivery of student transcript services.
  • Resolve customer service issues related to transcript requests and provide guidance to students and parents.
  • Escalate technological issues to the Associate Registrar.
  • Conduct official transcript evaluations for new and returning students, assessing transfer credit from previous institutions and prior learning experiences based on current policies.
  • Maintain quality transcript evaluations while meeting daily goals for timely student service.
  • Assess credits for students by reviewing completed courses and credit hours, verifying level, content, unit value, and grading systems against catalogs of other institutions.
  • Coordinate with Enrollment to obtain official transcripts for review.
  • Co-own the development and improvement of the Transfer Credit Evaluation process.
  • Research course equivalencies and obtain course descriptions and college catalogs by web research and contacting other colleges and universities.
  • Determine the transferability of courses not yet articulated by consulting with Faculty Chairs and/or the Dean of Curriculum & Academic Affairs.
  • Communicate transfer equivalency reviews to applicants, students, Academic Advisors, academic departments, and Enrollment.
  • Enter awarded transfer credits and pending credits into the student information system.
  • Resolve and update pending courses in the student information system as final transcripts are received.
  • Maintain and update articulations and course equivalencies.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of related policies and procedural documentation.
  • Track and prepare reports related to the awarding of transfer credits.
  • Process change of name requests and ensure the Student Information System is updated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
