About The Position

The Training Supervisor is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing all employee training programs within the steel mill. This role ensures that employees are properly trained in safety procedures, operational processes, and technical skills to support efficient production, regulatory compliance, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and plant operations
  • Familiarity with OSHA and industrial safety standards
  • Excellent communications, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to develop engaging training materials and deliver effective instruction.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS).
  • 3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing or steel mill environment
  • Previous experience in training, supervision or workforce development

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Education, Human Resources, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs for production, maintenance and support staff.
  • Develop onboarding and orientation programs for new hires, including safety and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify training needs and skill gaps.
  • Update training materials to reflect new technologies, processes, and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure all training complies with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate and track required safety training such as lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and PPE usage.
  • Support audits and inspections by maintaining accurate training records and documentation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through ongoing education and awareness initiatives.
  • Monitor employee progress and competency through assessments and performance evaluations.
  • Facilitate cross-training to enhance workforce flexibility and operational efficiency.
  • Coach supervisors and employees on best practices and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Support leadership development programs for frontline supervisors and team leads.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure training aligns with operational goals.
  • Assist in the rollout of new equipment, processes, and technologies by providing targeted training.
  • Analyze training effectiveness using KPIs and adjust programs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all training activities, certifications, and employee qualifications.
  • Prepare reports on training completion rates, compliance status, and program effectiveness.
  • Manage training schedules, budgets and resources.
