About The Position

This position serves as a member of the Statewide Payroll Training team and provides a wide variety of training, development, and consultative services to state agencies, state employees, and other audiences in relation to payroll and human resources for the State of Alaska. The Division of Finance provides the highest quality accounting, payroll and travel services for the State of Alaska. Requirements

  • Knowledge of compensation concepts, principles, and practices, including pay and leave administration and compensation flexibilities.
  • Knowledge of teaching, training, research, making presentations, lecturing, testing, and other instructional methods.
  • Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor.
  • Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.
  • Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Training or education in training and development, human resources, education, instructional design, business administration, social sciences, or a related field; AND/OR Experience in the training-subject and/or the agencies’ programs; human resources; teaching or facilitating learning; assisting with developing or revising training materials, assisting in assessing training needs, and/or assisting in evaluating training effectiveness.
