About The Position

The Training Specialist will support the Texas Department of Transportation on the technical and systems training program. This role is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining technical training curricula across a range of software solutions and IT -driven processes. The Training Specialist will work as part of a training team to collect and analyze audience and business needs, then translate complex technical information into clear, accessible instructional materials for both technical and non -technical personnel. The specialist will manage training programs in accordance with business requirements and quality standards, while staying current with emerging trends in instructional methods and delivery technologies.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing training curricula.
  • 8 years of experience developing training programs, including web -based and instructor -led courses, job aids, and videos.
  • 5 years of experience conducting classes covering standard operating procedures for various software solutions, IT security, IT system installation, software programming, system maintenance and repair, operational support best practices, and equipment.
  • 5 years of experience with web -based learning management systems and eLearning authoring tools.
  • 5 years of expert knowledge of MS Office Suite 2010, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience delivering technical training in cloud -based technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement technical training programs, including instructor -led and web -based courses, job aids, and multimedia content.
  • Deliver on -site and web -based training covering software solutions, IT security, system installation, software programming, system maintenance, operational support best practices, and remote access systems.
  • Create instructor materials such as course outlines, background materials, instructional aids, and supplementary technical documentation for both COTS products and in -house IT solutions.
  • Develop and maintain computer -based and multimedia curriculum, incorporating simulators, eLearning authoring tools, and learning management systems.
  • Gather, analyze, and translate technical information into clear, readable materials for use by both technical and non -technical personnel.
  • Conduct test analysis and develop or revise test items in the role of testing officer.
  • Assist in formatting and revising training materials developed by other staff members as requested.
  • Research and recommend vendors and delivery methods including outside training classes, books, pre -built training guides, and computer - or web -based learning options.
  • Incorporate new curriculum into the teaching process by developing clarification, examples, and alternative instructional techniques to maintain learner motivation and engagement.
  • Stay current with developments in the computer training field, with a focus on alternative instructional media and delivery methods.
