About The Position
Gray Media is seeking bright college students for its paid internship program at WVUE-FOX 8 in New Orleans. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of local news and media. Interns will support daily operations, create engaging content for various platforms, research and fact-check information, learn multi-platform workflows, assist with field assignments, and collaborate with experienced professionals. The program aims to provide real-world experience, build a professional portfolio, and serve as a fast-track for full-time career opportunities within Gray Media's extensive network.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a college/university (Junior or Senior status preferred).
- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Sports, News, or a related field.
- A 'doer' mindset with the ability to take initiative.
- Digital savvy, understanding of media across multiple platforms.
- Strong work ethic, organization, and a 'can-do' attitude.
- Clear and confident communication skills.
- Commitment to the full 10-week program and 25-hour weekly schedule.
- Passion for local media and community impact.

Responsibilities
- Support daily operations in news, production, and digital departments.
- Create engaging content for stories, social media posts, and digital updates.
- Research and fact-check information for reporters and producers.
- Learn multi-platform content workflows from concept to broadcast, streaming, and social channels.
- Assist with field assignments and observe live shoots.
- Collaborate with teams, offering fresh ideas on storytelling and audience engagement.
- Handle real-world assignments in roles such as producer, MMJ, meteorologist, or media sales executive.
- Drive digital engagement by creating content for social media, streaming apps, and web stories.
- Work alongside seasoned professionals to gain industry insights.
- Tell stories that matter to the community or help local businesses grow through media strategies.
