About The Position
Gray Media, a leading multimedia company, is offering a summer training program at KOSA-TV (First Alert 7) in Midland/Odessa, Texas. KOSA-TV is the top-rated news leader in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. This program provides college students with hands-on experience in various media roles, including producer, MMJ, meteorologist, or media sales executive. Participants will create content for TV, digital platforms, and social media, collaborate with experienced professionals, and contribute to community stories or local business growth. The program is designed as a potential fast-track to full-time career opportunities within Gray Media's extensive network.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in college (Junior or Senior status preferred).
- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- A 'doer' mindset with initiative.
- Understanding that media exists across multiple platforms (digital savvy).
- Strong work ethic, organization, and a 'can-do' attitude.
- Clear and confident communication skills.
- Commitment to the full 10-week program and the 25-hour weekly schedule.
- Passion for the community and local media.
- Currently enrolled in a college/university (preferred Junior/Senior).
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Earning a degree in Journalism/Communications, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, News, Sports, or related fields, with a desire to get hands-on experience in the local media industry.
Responsibilities
- Step into the shoes of a producer, MMJ, meteorologist, or media sales executive and handle real-world assignments.
- Create content for social media, streaming apps, and web stories.
- Collaborate with seasoned veterans in the media industry.
- Dedicate 25 hours per week for 10 weeks to mastering a specialty and building a professional-grade portfolio.
- Tell stories that matter to the community or help local businesses grow.
