About The Position

The Gray Media Training Program is a 10-week immersive experience designed to train the next generation of media professionals, including producers, reporters, weather experts, and sales executives. Participants will engage in real-world assignments, create digital content, collaborate with experienced professionals, and build a professional portfolio. The program aims to provide hands-on experience and position interns for potential full-time career opportunities within Gray Media's network of stations.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in college (preferred Junior or Senior status).
  • Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, News, Sports, or a related field.
  • A "doer" mindset with initiative and a willingness to work.
  • Understanding of digital media across various platforms.
  • Strong work ethic, organization, and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Reliability and commitment to the full 10-week program and 25-hour weekly schedule.
  • Passion for the community and local media.

Responsibilities

  • Own the role: Step into the shoes of a producer, MMJ, meteorologist, or media sales executive and handle real-world assignments that may go on air and online.
  • Drive digital engagement: Create content for social media, streaming apps, and web stories.
  • Collaborate with pros: Work side by side with seasoned veterans to gain insights.
  • Commit to the craft: Dedicate 25 hours per week for 10 weeks to mastering a specialty and building a professional-grade portfolio.
  • Make an impact: Tell stories that matter to the community or help local businesses grow through innovative media strategies.
