About The Position

The Carpentry Training Instructor serves as a subject matter expert in carpentry and is responsible for delivering NCCER-certified training to apprentices across Levels 1–4. This role combines instructional duties with on-site responsibilities as a Journey Level Carpenter Foreman, ensuring apprentices receive both theoretical and hands-on education aligned with Crossland Construction standards and NCCER guidelines.

Requirements

  • NCCER Certified Instructor with active credentials in proctoring and performance evaluation.
  • Completion of ICTP (Instructor Certified Training Program) with annual evaluations.
  • Proven experience as a Journey Level Carpenter Foreman.
  • Strong communication, mentorship, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours based on training and project needs.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and construction environments.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights safely.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate NCCER Course Curriculum through lectures, presentations, and hands-on training.
  • Teach modules including safety, construction math, hand/power tools, site preparation, measurement and layout, footings and foundations, framing, vertical concrete construction, elevated slab construction, wall and roofing systems, and other related topics.
  • Conduct monthly performance profiles and evaluations for each apprentice.
  • Proctor module exams and journey-level assessments.
  • Maintain certifications: NCCER Certified Instructor, Curriculum Proctor, Assessment Proctor, Performance Evaluator.
  • Assist apprentices with NCCER account registration and coordinate offsite/virtual testing when needed.
  • Ensure all testing and performance reviews comply with NCCER’s National Craft and Certification Program (NCACP) standards.
  • Provide mentorship beyond formal training sessions, emphasizing professionalism, communication, and site etiquette.
  • Reinforce Crossland Way values and best practices during training and on-site work.
  • Send reminders to apprentices about upcoming training sessions (1 month, 1 week, and 1 day prior).
  • Follow up with apprentices who miss training or need to retake assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Craft Training Director and Master Trainer to ensure apprentice engagement and progress.
  • Assist with other craft trainings (e.g., ironworking, heavy equipment, industrial carpentry).
  • Help facilitate and prepare materials for “Leading the Crossland Way” training.
