About The Position

This position is assigned to the Office of Staff Development and Training Western Region Office (157-E Dublin Square Road, Asheboro, NC 27205), and reports to the OSDT Deputy Director of Operations. The Correctional Training Coordinator II is responsible for the coordination, planning, and implementation of courses of instruction for the Department of Adult Correction (DAC) Basic Certified Mandated Training and/or Certified Instructor level training. The selected candidate will be also responsible for the management of three Basic Training Coordinators and their sections. The position ensures that there is a fair and equitable distribution of training resources for the Basic Training Programs conducted in an overnight setting, and will serve as one of two School Directors for these Basic Training Programs as certified and mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Standards Commission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience directly related to instruction and training, including two years in an administrative or coordinative capacity
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge.

  • Ability to create and design training materials, compile data into meaningful reports, and create/conduct surveys.
  • Skilled in statistics, basic analytical math, and test measurements.
  • Working knowledge of instructional methods, techniques, concepts, and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination, planning, and implementation of courses of instruction for the Department of Adult Correction (DAC) Basic Certified Mandated Training and/or Certified Instructor level training.
  • Management of three Basic Training Coordinators and their sections.
  • Ensuring fair and equitable distribution of training resources for Basic Training Programs conducted in an overnight setting.
  • Serving as one of two School Directors for Basic Training Programs as certified and mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Standards Commission.
  • Serving as the Criminal Justice School Director and speaking on behalf of the agency in dialog with the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Serving as an Instructor for the General Instructor Program.
  • Serving as an Instructor for the Correctional Leadership Development Program.
  • Serving as chairperson for the Basic Training Programs Revision Committee.
