About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a training instructor. Duties include instructing students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels, developing and/or revising lesson plans and training materials, inputting necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS), and maintaining professional and technical expertise. Assigned courses are accredited by the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). This position has been identified as Technical Training Essential. Wearing of protective ear gear is required when performing work in excessive noise areas. Eye protection is required when safety wiring and when under an engine. Safety toed footwear is required when instructing in the lab.

Requirements

  • Must complete initial online questionnaire and additional assessment(s).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Examples of specialized experience include teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
  • Supervising or administering a training program.
  • Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
  • Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
  • Applying a working knowledge of the Turboprop/Turboshaft engines and propellers theory/construction.
  • Providing a knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Turboprop/Turboshaft engines and propellers.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction.
  • Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses.
  • Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge of turboprop/turboshaft engines and propellers theory/construction.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of turboprop/turboshaft engines and propellers.
  • Must submit a copy of transcripts if using education to qualify.
  • Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
