About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a training instructor. Duties include instructing students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels, studying course objectives, technical orders, and other materials to prepare for assigned days of instruction. The role also involves developing and/or revising lesson plans and training materials for fighter crew chief curriculum, serving as the subject matter specialist in the development and/or revision of training materials such as study guides, workbooks, written tests, and progress checks. The instructor will monitor and evaluate student progress and performance, administer measurement devices, provide feedback to students, and maintain security. Additionally, the position requires inputting necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS), initiating documentation, updating student training records, and scheduling resources required for instruction. Maintaining professional and technical expertise through attending courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of training processes and procedures is also a key aspect of the role.

  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations.
  • If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement.

  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

  • Assigned courses are accredited by the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).
  • Instructors require an accredited school associates degree or attain such degree within a one-year designated time.
  • Position may require travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY.
  • May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor.
  • This position has been identified as Technical Training Essential.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical/medical examination.
  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction.
  • Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses.
  • Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Skill in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position of a Training Instructor.
