About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a training instructor. Duties include instructing students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels, developing and/or revising lesson plans and training materials, monitoring and evaluating student progress and performance, inputting necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS), and maintaining professional and technical expertise.

• All faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. The degree should be in the teaching discipline. If the degree is not in the teaching discipline, the faculty member must have documented experience, course work, and/or other training in the teaching discipline.
• Position may require travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY.
• May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor.
• This position has been identified as Technical Training Essential.
• Pre-employment physical is condition of employment
• Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction.
• Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs.
• Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses.
• Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
• Knowledge of maintenance and inspection of aircrew personal equipment such as aircrew flyers helmets, oxygen masks, individual survival kits, anti-G garments, anti-exposure garments, Aircrew Chemical Defense equipment, Aircrew Night Vision Goggles, radios, aircraft recovery parachute systems, and flotation equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance and inspection of aircraft survival equipment such as personal parachutes, oxygen regulator and connector, multiple life rafts and ejection seat systems.
• Knowledge of sewing machine maintenance, usage and sewing applications/fabrication.
• Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.
