About The Position

MASS Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong (MASS) is a statewide self-advocacy organization that supports, nurtures, and promotes self-advocacy among adults and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and autism. Our mission is to empower self-advocates through education to make choices that improve and enrich their lives. The Opportunity We're seeking a Training Coordinator to lead our dynamic training initiatives and partner with self-advocate peer trainers to deliver transformative education across Massachusetts. This role offers the opportunity to grow into a director-level position as our training programs expand.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in self-advocacy, community organizing, human rights, training facilitation, or comparable field
  • Experience working with or supporting people with disabilities
  • Comfort facilitating groups, training activities, and online webinar presentations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Zoom and online conferencing platforms
  • Experience with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple external and internal initiatives simultaneously
  • Willingness to learn and grow as new opportunities and funding become available

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Support Training Teams: Manage multiple teams of 3-5 self-advocate trainers. Conduct weekly Zoom check-ins with trainers regarding resources, scheduling, and support needs. Provide technology support and meet with team members in-person as needed. Assist with timesheet processing for payroll. Distribute relevant materials and resources to training teams.
  • Coordinate Training Programs: Oversee statewide initiatives including Awareness and Action (A&A), Self-Advocacy Leadership Series (SALS), i-SALS, Healthy Self-Advocates, and other organizational trainings. Schedule and coordinate in-person, hybrid, and virtual trainings via Zoom. Manage training requests, applications, and participant data. Coordinate logistics: technology needs, accessibility accommodations, materials, locations, and calendar invites. Build and maintain relationships with residential service providers, self-advocacy groups, schools, and individual self-advocates.
  • Facilitate and Organize: Organize weekly team training practices, meetings, and supervision (in-person and via Zoom). Create and maintain training schedules and dashboards using Google Suite (Sheets, Calendar, Classroom). Guide peer trainers in delivering 1-3 hour training sessions both virtually and in-person.
  • Curriculum Management: Become an expert on all training curricula and related materials. Review and update training curriculum and scripts regularly. Communicate updates to training teams ensuring accessibility. Create and update orientation materials for new curricula, taking a project management approach.
  • Onboarding and Development: Support orientation and onboarding of new Peer Trainers and Training staff. Provide ongoing supervision, direction, and scheduling support to current trainers. Collaborate with MASS staff to identify new training opportunities.
  • Reporting and Follow-Up: Track participant data and training outcomes. Prepare summary reports on training effectiveness. Follow up with training participants and stakeholders.

  • Prorated monthly stipend of $100-$135 for employees working 30+ hours (health insurance not offered)
  • $2,000 bonus after 9 months of successful employment
