About The Position

The Training Coordinator is a mid-level management position within Adams County Probation Services. The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the department’s training, onboarding, and professional development programs. The Coordinator works collaboratively with the Chief Probation Officer, Deputy Chiefs of Operations, Directors, and the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Coordinator to ensure staff possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to deliver high-quality probation services. The Training Coordinator oversees training compliance, certification and recertification requirements, and workforce development initiatives. The position integrates evidence-based practices (EBPs), restorative justice principles, and departmental priorities into training curricula. The Coordinator also evaluates training effectiveness, supports EBP skill development, and ensures training programs reinforce quality assurance findings and continuous improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • Verification of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in probation services.
  • Working knowledge of courts, corrections, and/or law enforcement, as well as county, state, and federal government.
  • Ability to understand the interrelationship of these various levels of government.
  • After hire, obtaining/maintaining certification in Protective Safety Systems and Firearms certification is required.
  • After hire, annual completion of 40 hours of training per PCCD and/or JCJC requirements.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field is preferred.
  • Prior training, instructional, or workforce development experience preferred.
  • Ongoing training in instructional design, compliance standards, EBPs, and adult learning methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based probation practices, adult learning principles, and instructional design.
  • Knowledge of JCJC, PCCD, PBPP, JJSES, BARJ, and departmental compliance standards.
