About The Position

The position is responsible for overseeing customer order acceptance and fulfillment to support customer satisfaction and company profitability, while managing equipment use and transport personnel. Duties include coordinating customer orders, scheduling and dispatching drivers, managing the movement and availability of trucks and trailers, and supervising departmental employees. The role also supports fleet management, equipment procurement recommendations, order and inventory documentation, and communication with other managers. The posting title is “Trainer Supervisor,” although the job description’s purpose and duties refer to a Transport Operations Manager or Transport Manager.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in logistics and/or truckload transportation.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Experience dealing with a diverse carrier base.
Excellent leadership skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to accept and promote change.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and TMS operations.
Ability to read and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and present information effectively to managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic and calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems, interpret varied instructions, determine root causes, and identify corrective action.
Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word-processing software, and spreadsheet software.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally; operate phone systems using keyboards and buttons; and perform the described sitting, repetitive hand motions, standing, and walking.
Ability to work more than eight continuous hours when required and to work under stressful conditions while maintaining accuracy, concentration, and cognitive performance.
Ability to discern visual images on various media with 20/20 corrected vision and communicate clearly by telephone.
Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician, with no evidence of controlled-substance use.

Responsibilities

Manage the acceptance and solicitation of customer orders.
Schedule orders for drivers and dispatch drivers.
Manage efficient utilization and movement of company trucks and trailers.
Hire, manage, train, review, and terminate departmental personnel.
Maintain appropriate management communications with other RJW managers and preserve confidentiality when required.
Ensure proper documentation of orders and inventories.
Understand and follow RJW goals, policies, and procedures.
Control the locations and availability of all trailers and trucks.
Manage RJW Fleet Managers.
Recommend equipment procurement needs related to equipment turnover.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisors or managers, as needs arise.
