About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a Trailer and SRI Repair Specialist to maintain its fleet of trailers and Ford and GMC trucks. The role uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles, and includes working on a production line. U-Haul provides tools, on-the-job learning from experienced team members, and access to its Technician Training Program, including Ford, GM, and U-Haul classes. The position is located at 1843 Rainier Rd, Abilene, Texas 79606. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The company describes its work environment as involving moderate risks or discomforts and requiring special safety precautions around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. Protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be required. Physical work includes spending long periods indoors and outdoors, remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to use tools, and moving at least 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Requirements

Basic mechanical aptitude.
Driver’s license.
Ability to work both as part of a team and individually.
Basic computer skills.
Regular attendance.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of repair experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Secure trailers on lifts and dollies.
Perform tire and brake maintenance.
Rebuild and repair braking systems and trailer components.
Dismount, balance, and mount tires.
Occasionally road-test vehicles.
Work on a production line.
Use the proprietary electronic pre-inspection and repair checklist.
Willingly assist in additional areas as necessary, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
