About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a motivated career Traffic/Safety Engineer to join our Charleston, SC office. This position offers the opportunity to join a highly regarded traffic engineering design team working on a broad range of traffic and roadway design projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites, and as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in applicable industry and SCDOT standards, regulations, and guidelines, including MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, GDOT preferred
  • CAD software (Microstation), and traffic analysis software (Synchro)
  • EIT or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of South Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Assist Traffic Safety and Traffic Operations professionals as needed.
  • Research and analyze vehicular and vulnerable road user (pedestrian, bicyclist, personal conveyance device user, or worker in a work zone) crash data.
  • Provide analysis to support development of design or operational ideas and solutions.
  • Research alternate solutions and design options in support of the project team.
  • Assist in preparation of studies, conceptual designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
  • Communicate and collaborate in a team environment and adapt to dynamic project needs.
  • Assist with traffic study proposals.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
