About The Position

This position supports initiatives within the division and is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and coordination of the Traffic Safety department. In this position, frequent collaboration with other College departments is necessary. This position will provide regular reports to internal and external audiences regarding non-credit courses and trainings offered.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in related field required, bachelor’s degree preferred; AND Six years of related work experience, preferably with three years in Higher Education and/or in state regulation and compliance, AND Minimum two years of recent leadership/supervisory experience, OR An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Traffic Safety School Program Manager: Develop and maintain program policies, practices, and strategies.
  • Provide direct supervision of support staff, including assigning work and ensuring effective daily operations.
  • Schedule classes and assign instructors or delegate as appropriate.
  • Evaluate certified instructors at least once during each certification period.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on program policies, practices, and issues.
  • Train and onboard new instructors and coordinate ongoing in-service training.
  • Prepare and submit required quarterly reports to the DOT.
  • Review, screen, and submit application materials for prospective instructors.
  • Attend required meetings for Traffic Safety School Program Coordinators and the Wisconsin Advisory Council.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student and staff information.
  • Address and resolve student concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with assessors to coordinate alternative education referrals.
  • Assist in department-level planning, budget development, and budget management: Assist in developing and monitoring department budgets as assigned.
  • Develop partnerships to aid in community programming updates, modifications, and development.
  • Assist in the continuous monitoring and improvement of department productivity utilizing key indicators such as numbers served, cost effectiveness, contract services revenue and cost recovery.
  • Provide leadership to functional and cross-functional teams as assigned.
  • Participate in institutional committees, projects, task forces, etc. as appropriate.
  • Commitment to customer service, continuous improvement, student learning and success.
  • Excellent leadership skills and a demonstrated success record in team-based operations and management.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training programs for community members.
  • Ability to foster and sustain professional relationships with internal and external customers.
