About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Traffic & Intelligent Transportation System Manager to be based in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position will involve project management for traffic-related projects with opportunities to lead design on ITS projects. The role includes providing supervision of junior staff, performing management and leadership responsibilities for a technical group, and having full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments. Key tasks include traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, conceptual planning/design, and producing various project documentation such as plan sheets, specifications, estimates, technical memoranda, and reports. The role also involves working on ITS or emerging technology projects using the systems engineering process, serving in various roles on traffic/ITS projects, and actively participating in the production of technical deliverables. The manager will work with early-career staff, review their technical work, and ensure assigned tasks are delivered on schedule and budget while adhering to AECOM quality standards. Coordination with other discipline groups, external clients, and sub-consultants is essential. The position requires performing work independently in accordance with budget and schedule with little supervision, acting independently on technical matters, and managing a group of engineers and/or technicians.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience using Traffic and Traffic Simulation Software and design platforms
Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required
Good interpersonal skills
Good command of the English language both, verbally and written
Ability to express thoughts clearly
Good time management skills
A good attitude towards work

Nice To Haves

Preferred 5 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects
Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE license in 6 months
Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Project management for traffic related projects
Lead design on ITS projects
Provide supervision of junior staff for project development and coordination of tasks
Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department
Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments
Traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design
Produce plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation
Work on ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process
Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects
Actively participate in the team’s production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
Work with Early in Career staff and help review technical work and project documentation
Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards
Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field
Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit
