About The Position

A Traffic Electronics Maintenance Technician II installs, maintains, repairs and tests a variety of complex traffic electronic control equipment. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work rotating shift work and are subject to call-back. Work is performed in an electronics shop and outdoors where there is occasional exposure to inclement weather and traffic hazards. Work requires moderate physical exertion such as bending and reaching to maintain and repair equipment.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and solid-state equipment.
  • Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required. PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
  • Must upload a copy of your valid driver's license with application at time of applying.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of two years at an accredited college or university in digital electronics, computer science or a related field may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
  • Possession of a General Radiotelephone license issued by the Federal Communications Commission may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
