About The Position

As a Protector, you work with a team at job sites to help manage traffic safely. No experience or degree is needed; training and support are provided. The job involves working outside year-round in all weather and following safety rules at all times. Shifts may change based on job needs, and some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required. Employees may stand or walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift. AWP Safety provides a hard hat, safety goggles, safety vest, safety whistle, walkie-talkie, and hot- and cold-weather gear. Employees must provide their own steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Ability to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods.
Ability to lift 40–50 pounds.
Willingness to work in traffic and changing weather.
Flexible schedule and ability to arrive on time for every shift.
Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test; this is a safety-sensitive job.
Ability to stay alert around moving traffic and follow safety rules at all times.
Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect.
Provide personal steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle.

Responsibilities

Set up and take down cones, signs, barricades, and other traffic-control equipment.
Use a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic and watch traffic and job-site activity.
Follow all safety rules taught in training.
Communicate with crew members and the supervisor.
Help keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe.
