About The Position

The Level II Visual Trades Inspector (VT) inspects ship structure and piping, including both final and in-process inspections of location, fit-up, and welds. The position provides oversight of the quality of products manufactured at Bath Iron Works and interacts with production supervision and internal and external customers regarding structure, outfitting, and piping.

The pay range is $24.64–$34.28 per hour, based on skills and experience.

Requirements

• Experience in at least one of the following trades: welding, shipfitting, or pipefitting.
• Ability to read structural, outfitting, or pipe drawings and understand symbols.
• Must be able to obtain Level II VT certification.
• Strong background in welding, structure, or pipe.
• Safety-conscious, dependable, and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks in structure, outfitting, and piping.
• Ability to deal with conflict professionally.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• BIW Apprentice graduate.
• Five years of experience in shipbuilding processes.
