About The Position
The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East (SLFPA-E) is an emergency-oriented agency with a mission to ensure the physical, operational, and financial integrity of the regional flood risk management system in southeastern Louisiana. This role involves assisting with facility inspections and repairs to buildings, grounds, outbuildings, and mechanical systems, including HVAC and refrigeration. The incumbent will perform routine checks and maintenance on chillers, water towers, air handler units, and pumps, as well as filter cleaning/changing and preventative maintenance. Additionally, the role may involve plumbing services, including minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections of flood control valves. As an emergency-oriented agency, the incumbent must be prepared to be on call and report for duty during emergencies such as Mississippi River flooding and hurricane/tropical storm events, remaining on duty until released.

- No experience or training is required.
Responsibilities
- Performing facility inspections and making repairs to buildings, grounds, and outbuildings.
- Making mechanical repairs to all operational equipment, such as A/C & heat systems.
- Checking and making notes of chillers, water towers, and air handler units.
- Checking gauges for proper pressures and temperatures for optimum operational use of pumps for chilled water and cooling tower water.
- Making adjustments as needed for optimum operational use.
- Performing monthly filter cleaning/changing and annual PM routines.
- Performing maintenance on ice makers and shop equipment.
- Providing plumbing services, including minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and quarterly inspections of flood control valves.
- Completing valve maintenance inspection reports.
- Being on call and reporting for duty during emergencies such as Mississippi River flooding and Hurricane/Tropical storm events, and remaining on duty until released.
