About The Position

The Trade Advisory Manager leads a team of Customs Trade Advisors and provides trade advisory services to Flexport clients. The role works directly with clients and collaborates with legal, product, sales, and operations teams to interpret customs regulations and develop compliant, efficient trade solutions. It includes legal analysis and written advice on complex customs matters, strategies to manage compliance risk and optimize supply chains, external subject-matter representation, and ongoing improvement of advisory processes and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in customs and international trade advisory, with a focus on legal analysis and compliance.
Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification.
Proven experience managing and developing a team of trade professionals.
Expertise in U.S. import/export regulations, including HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and free trade agreements.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
A compliance-first attitude in a heavily regulated industry.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Customs Trade Advisors, fostering their growth and expertise.
Provide expert legal analysis and written advice on complex customs and trade matters, including classification, valuation, origin, and free trade agreements.
Develop and implement trade compliance strategies that mitigate risk and optimize client supply chains.
Collaborate with Flexport's legal, product, sales, and operations teams to integrate trade advisory into broader client solutions.
Represent Flexport externally as a subject matter expert, engaging with clients and industry stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement in advisory processes and knowledge sharing within the Customs department.
