About The Position

Flexport is seeking a Trade Advisory Manager to lead its Customs team and provide trade advisory services to clients navigating global trade regulations. The role works directly with clients, Flexport’s legal department, and operations teams to interpret regulations and develop compliant, efficient trade solutions. The manager will address challenges such as optimizing supply-chain duty costs, complying with evolving import and export laws, and delivering legal analysis through written memos. The position combines team leadership with expert customs and trade analysis. It includes developing trade compliance strategies, representing Flexport with clients and industry stakeholders, and improving advisory processes and knowledge sharing. Requirements

At least 8 years of experience in customs and international trade advisory, with a focus on legal analysis and compliance.
Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification.
Proven experience managing and developing a team of trade professionals.
Expertise in U.S. import and export regulations, including HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and free trade agreements.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
A compliance-first attitude in a heavily regulated industry.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Customs Trade Advisors, fostering their growth and expertise.
Provide expert legal analysis and written advice on complex customs and trade matters, including classification, valuation, origin, and free trade agreements.
Develop and implement trade compliance strategies that mitigate risk and optimize client supply chains.
Collaborate with Flexport’s legal, product, sales, and operations teams to integrate trade advisory into broader client solutions.
Represent Flexport externally as a subject matter expert, engaging with clients and industry stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement in advisory processes and knowledge sharing within the Customs department.
