About The Position

Stepp’s Towing & Heavy Transport is hiring Light Duty Tow Operators to serve the Tampa area. The family-owned company provides light-, medium-, and heavy-duty towing, heavy transport, and auto salvage services. Drivers respond to roadside emergencies and accidents, assist motorists, perform minor repairs when needed, and safely tow and transport vehicles. The role offers an assigned truck with no slip seating; drivers must supply their own set of tools once assigned to a truck. Tow-truck training is provided to candidates without prior towing experience.

Pay is commission-based at 30%; the posting states that this is not a salary-paid position. Five-day and six-day work weeks are available, and weekend work is mandatory.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of verifiable commercial motor vehicle driving experience.
• Current DOT Medical Card required before the first day of work.
• Clean driving record for at least the past 3 years.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Must provide a set of tools once assigned to a truck.
• Must have significant physical strength and stamina and be able to lift, crawl, pull, use hands constantly, bend, reach, and climb.

Nice To Haves

• Prior towing experience or experience in a related field; not required, as tow-truck training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to accidents, vehicle breakdowns, and roadside emergencies.
• Communicate effectively with motorists while en route to service calls.
• Carry out minor repairs or tow vehicles to repair facilities as needed.
• Safely secure and transport vehicles on the assigned truck.
• Remove vehicles parked in unauthorized locations.
• Build customer relationships and provide thoughtful solutions.
