About The Position

The Tote Cleaning & Rubber Milling Operator is responsible for two primary functions: cleaning chemical totes and operating the milling machine to process rubber material. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to follow precise formulas and procedures. This position will be working at our Lynchburg, VA Buchanan manufacturing plant. This position pays $19.00/hr

Requirements

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and formulas.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and weighing materials.
  • Strong attention to safety, particularly when working with chemicals and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to visually inspect rubber for proper milling completion.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 55 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying production demands, including slow and intense periods.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including eye protection and heat-resistant gloves.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Use an air gun to open totes and inspect their cleanliness.
  • Determine the appropriate amount of solvent needed for cleaning.
  • Retrieve solvent from a designated tank using a 3-gallon bucket and pour it into the tote.
  • Scrub the interior of the tote using a brush to remove residue.
  • Dispose of waste solvent by transferring it into a collection barrel.
  • Use a ladder if necessary to access the top of the tote.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection.
  • Follow formulas and instructions to process rubber material for batches.
  • Measure and pour rubber pellets into the milling machine according to specifications.
  • Operate the milling machine, ensuring the proper processing of rubber.
  • Monitor the milling process using visual inspection skills to determine when the rubber is ready.
  • Cut milled rubber into pieces and hang them on a rack for further processing.
  • Transport the completed rubber racks to the batcher.
  • Wear heat-resistant and cut-resistant gloves due to the high temperature of the milling process.
  • Perform basic counting, weighing, and mathematical calculations as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of safety protocols while working around machinery.
