About The Position

Our plant in Omaha, Nebraska is looking for an experienced Total Quality Manager. The Total Quality Manager will be responsible for the Quality Assurance programs in the Omaha Plant. They will coordinate and direct quality programs defined by the corporate office. They will coordinate and investigate corrective/preventive actions of the food safety and quality programs. They will also respond to audits performed by the government and other regulatory agencies, including those as AIB, ASI, and other private consulting companies.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or quality assurance/process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two years of experience in quality programs or initiatives
  • Two years of experience in coordinating and implementing corrective or preventative actions
  • Two years of experience in audit processes, both government and independent
  • Two years of experience in data analysis to generate reports related to quality metrics
  • Two years of experience in quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9002)
  • Two years of experience in supplier management

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing a safe environment for department employees and ensuring safety training is being conducted and documented.
  • Participates in plant safety meetings and audits.
  • Monitors the quality plans to ensure that standards are being adhered to.
  • Reviews the critical process control points and advises plant management of the potential for product adulteration.
  • Evaluates internal and external product failures and generates corrective and/or corrective preventive actions for continuing trends.
  • Responsible for assuring the proper disposition of non-conforming products.
  • Ensures that only approved suppliers are used according to the supplier approval program and that suppliers’ performances meet acceptable criteria.
  • Manages and audits the Quality System’s Corrective Action Control Center.
  • Coordinates and executes monthly meetings with key staff.
  • Maintains up to date records for all plant programs.
  • Complies and keeps administrative requirements current.
  • Generates reports using statistical data to monitor the adherence to quality standards.
  • Conducts mock recall of the plants’ products to assess preparedness.
  • Reviews specifications for accuracy to meet processing requirements.
  • Conducts sanitation audits of the plant to determine adherence to food safety guidelines and to prepare for external audits.
  • Interact with regulatory officials.
  • Use statistical techniques to collect, evaluate and interpret data used in continuous improvement.
  • Conducts market surveys of the plant and competitor’s products.
  • Responsible for the administration of the department’s budget.
  • Reviews the plant’s compliance to quality and ISO 9002 standards and reports observed non-compliance.
  • Takes disciplinary actions and investigates incidents when required.
  • Defines training needs of QA personnel.
  • Performs appraisals and counseling to QA personnel when needed.
  • Protects the brands ensuring compliance to regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Reviews activities to ensure conformance to product specifications.
  • Monitors and guarantees that products are being manufactured in conformance with Good Manufacturing and Food Safety Practices.
  • Provides training and support, as well as enforcement of the Quality and Food Safety Programs.
