About The Position

Designs stamping dies and equipment that are necessary to manufacture customer products. This role involves implementing stamping dies, machines, fixtures, and gauges from 3D design through to production support, utilizing CAD and PDM software, ordering components, and communicating with vendors. The engineer will collaborate with various departments to resolve issues during and after the tooling build phase, review customer prints and GD&T, and support program managers with necessary tooling information.

Requirements

  • Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use SolidWorks 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Ability to read and understand requirements of customer prints and GD&T.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and other personnel on critical concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Designs stamping dies and equipment necessary for manufacturing customer products.
  • Implements stamping dies, machines, fixtures, and gauges from 3D design through production support.
  • Utilizes CAD and PDM software for design tasks.
  • Orders purchased components and communicates with vendors.
  • Collaborates effectively with tooling, maintenance, controls, engineering, and other relevant departments to resolve issues.
  • Communicates with vendors to ensure products meet technical requirements.
  • Reads and understands customer prints and GD&T.
  • Supports the program manager by providing tooling information for breakdown sheets, verification forms, and Gantt chart preparation.
  • Uses SolidWorks 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.
